All Snail Guides need to be Diamond Polished in the Loop
Snail Wire Guide offers the convenience of easy threading, making
it an
attractive alternative to Caged Wire Guide Pulleys in less critical appli-
cations. Since the wire in this case traverses against a non-revolving guide surface, it is highly desirable that the loop, or the guide surface in contact with the wire, be thoroughly mirror finished. See photo, right.
The Direction of Turn
One point to be noted about Snail Wire
Guide is the direction in the turn of the loop,
which need to be explicitly defined.
The abbreviation "L" or "R" appearing
in the Part Number designates the direction
of the turn. The convention of the turn is
depicted at left. The option is a matter of
preference on the shop floor.
Holders to go with Snail Guides
Snail Wire Guide is epoxy-bond on a metallic holder, usually threaded. We offer three (3) each of metric and imperial (inch) threaded holders, depicted below.
For the dimensions of stocked snail guides, please see Snail Guide ( 2 ).
