Optimum Air Pressure for Air Wipes

questions > optimum air pressure for air wipes

Many factors go into the choice of air pressure for wire wiping, such as: the clearance between the wire and the wipe chamber, the length of the wipe chamber, the degree of contamination, etc. Therefore no rule of thumb could be offered.

The best approach is to start at low pressure and gradually increase the pressure by adjusting the control at the pressure regulator until the wire emerges from the air wipe to your satisfaction.

It is desirable to install the regulator upstream but close to the air wipe. Indeed, you may want many throughout the system as, by adjusting the pressure down to the lowest possible functioning level at each air-using application, you can save a substantial amount in compressed air generation.

Please take note all of our air wipe quick couplings are rated at 15 bars or 217 psi, which is considered adequate for the majority of air wiping applications.
